Which EVs have V2L?
More than you'd think, at wildly different power levels. Here's the landscape as of early 2026 — but verify your exact trim and model year, because the traps are all in the details.
Two cars with the same name can be completely different
V2L varies by trim and model year, and the gaps are large. A base F-150 Lightning does 2.4 kW; a higher trim does 9.6 kW. Some Hyundai and Kia trims ship without the V2L adapter and you buy it separately. Never assume from the model name — confirm the specific build, and on the used market confirm the hardware is actually present.

Two ways V2L is delivered
Charge-port adapter
The Hyundai group approach: a dongle plugs into the car's charging port and gives you a household outlet on a short pigtail. Nothing inside the cabin required. The catch is that the adapter is a separate part on some trims — confirm it's in the deal.
Built-in outlets
Trucks mostly do it this way: actual receptacles in the bed and cabin, sometimes including 240V. More convenient, no adapter to lose, and generally higher power.
Don't confuse V2L with Tesla's approach
Tesla was historically cautious about V2L. The Model 3 and Model Y don't have V2L outlets; the Cybertruck added bed and cabin outlets. Tesla's home-backup story is a separate system called Powershare, which needs specific hardware — that's V2H, and it's covered on its own page, not here.
